OK guys, looks like the thieving little toe rags are on the loose again. I have heard of 4 skylines going missing in the North London Area within the past 2-3 weeks. Another white GTR was taken outside an owner’s house last night without even an alarm going off while the chap was awake so it looks like the cars are being towed. May I remind you all to be extra vigilant and if possible keep your car locked away in a garage.
I’m thinking that there will either be a big influx of skyline parts hitting ebay soon OR a gang has been given a big order for export. Either way be careful
especially if you live in the London area

Regards

Gerry

How to make your Skyline safer from theft??

Theiving shitehouses.... Lets hope it catches up with them in the end

Does anyone have any good suggestions on how to make your Skyline safer from theft when parked on your driveway or outside you house??

I'm thinking of getting a discloc for the steering wheel but this insn't going to help matters if these shatheads are towing the cars away...

Suggestions may help all of us out in the end..

Many moons ago i had a granada scorpio which was lowered, nice wheels etc etc. I worked hard and spent all my hard earned on it, anyhow they came in the night and stole it from my driveway , took it to a field in Rochford Essex and after having their fun they smashed in every panel and slashed all the seats.
I was sooooo p*ssed that when i got my next car i had one of those lights on my garage that lights up if someone walks down your drive but i dissconnected the power to the light and ran some bellwire to my bedroom and connected it to a door bell i had bought so instead of turning the security light on it rang a doorbell i had set up in my bedroom. This way they wouldn't know i knew they was there. I really wanted to catch one, even had a baseball bat by the bed thats how p*ssed i was with the spotty pr*cks.
TRouble with this as you guess its like the horse had already bolted, but for anyone in the mentioned areas it might be worth doing.

Would agree with Shakey Finch, tracker would be the answer
I know in France a couple of years ago, there were discussion about jammers for trackers which made them useless, a bit like what the white house has got (talking about gps here)
Except the army having access to that kind of stuff, just reassure me & tell me you can't find that out there

Gerry, were they only GTRs or also GTS-ts?

if you`ve got an alarm y not turn the sensitivity right up on it, the slightest touch will set it off, dont suppose it`ll work that gud if its on a busy road but well worth a try if its on ur drive, i`d gladly serve as hangman if they catch the thieving b@st@rds, it nakes ur blood boil especially when its a fellow skyliner (faz) .

I'm not going into what security I have on my car after what happened once with my Impreza but it sounds like a similar thing, just not kicking your door down for the keys!

If you look at getting wheel clamps, especially the smaller unversal ones, make sure they will go on a wide wheel... My one was fine on the Impreza but the wheels are too wide on the GTR.

If they are this organised, and this many are going missing in a relatively small area, then I'd say they are definately being nicked to export....

for f@cks sake...cant have anything nice these days can you :(

I'd say these garage/driveway posts are the way forward ! If you cant drag the car out then that's got to make it harder.

I'm going for one....and some form of tracker....and disclock !

Theiving little basts....group kicking in order if we find em I say !!!!! :chairshot

The only things about the posts is make sure that there is no front lawn they can drive over... I have a post installed in my drive so you cant even open the garage door without dropping the post...pain in the ****... as for turning the sensitivity up on the alarm... just be careful that it does not interfere with the neighbours.. mine complianed that it kept chirping awayu when I had my car in the driveway.....

Your neighbours still talk to you anyway with a GTR exhaust ? ;)

back to the serious stuff....I guess if the basts want it then they'll have it no matter what you do ?!?

I'm defo liking the sound of these posts though....my driveway is quite narrow, unless they want to try driving it through a brick wall and 2 other cars....one of them being a 2+ton SUV !

The gf has suggested running some chains between the wheels of my car & hers - padlock them together like we used to do with our bikes:smokin: .
I suppose it would work if you just ran a security chain through all 4 wheels.

Did any of these go during the day, or were they all taken at night?

Problem with chains are that you can buy rechargable disc cutters really cheap now....mate had his R1 nicked from the back of his house.....they cut the chain to the ground anchor, disabled the alarm (left it in bits on the floor) and then lifted the thing over a 6ft brick wall !!! He didnt hear a thing ?!?!

Was a proper bike chain too, not a B&Q jobbies

http://www.atgaccess.com/

Rising bollards, Automatic bollards, Security bollards, Telescopic security posts, Retractable security bollards, Static bollards, ATG Access Ltd

i used to work for a group this company is part of.... and i have 2 of their bollards in my driveway. they have been awarded top honours by "Auto Express" - apparently they can withstand being hit by a 7.5 tonne truck!!!

all i can say... they is fantastic. i have the manual ones (easy to operate) but you can get fully electric ones. fairly cheap invest considering what some of you guys spend on your cars.

alternatively, if you have no driveway, my mate rents a lock up for his gtr, only £4.00/week with cctv security etc. bit of a hassle but WELL worth he reckons.

IMO the automatic bollards are the only real solution, those light bollards are worth nothing. I had one at my old parking lot, didn´t see it at night and just drove over it-a short ping-sound made me aware of the bollard and it was gone in 0,5 seconds (with the mighty power of a Clio)
I just had the Idea of a thik iron ring in concrete connected to the tow hook at the car connected with a massive Iron bar. (like the towing bars but shorter) I think everybody would wake up from the noise of a motorized Flex if the @rses try to cut it.

Someone I know bought a brand new Escort Cosworth many years ago and it was stolen twice. He bought massive chains, alarms galore, bollards and it was in a 4 bay garage behind another car.
They still came back and took it again :(
He now drives an old shed, and I long ago came to the conclusion that the only sure way of stopping people stealing your nice car is not to own one in the first place :(

Such a sad state of affairs :(
