After having last weeks Event rained off, Rob Ward and the RIPS Team went to Meremere Fun Day today to push MW3 aiming to get car into 7.5's on its 'skinny' tyres and running E85 fuel.

First run was 7.6sec @ 183mph.

Second run was 7.59 @184mph.

So the team decided track was good, car was good, Rob was good, so time to wind up the power to 2000HP! :runaway:

Next run was 7.57sec @188mph with torque converter cooking itself unable to push power through and engine banging off rev limiter for final second of run.

Think a bit, tweak a bit, let transmission cool down, take rev limiter off :nervous: and go for it on final run of day/season.

RIPS MW3 in car, yet another Sunday Shopping trip.......

Thanks to Delwyn Turnbull for out of car video

Yup, its a 7.48sec @189mph - just 7 hundredths off the World Record 7.41sec.

RIPS doing what it does best, fast, well prepped cars, showing they can walk the walk, not just talk the talk.

Tighten up the torque converter to stop the slip, bigger tyres, less weight (car weighs 1300Kg) and low 7's beckon?

Top job, Robbie, Jase and the Crew. Before you all get drunk, remember someone has to drive home!!!

This is absolutely awesome and on e85! Congrats to the team and that's a cracking time, well done

Does this make mgw3 the 3rd fastest drag gtr in the world?

I believe 'only' 1.26sec 60ft. So if Rob can shave the 0.06 off, that's another 0.15 off the 7.48 time maybe?
