I'm looking to get a roll cage in my 34, any one got one in their 34.

Where did you get it from and how much did it cost?

I only use the car at weekends and i'm intending using it on the track as much as i can, i'm not sure what cage would be best.

Not 100% sure if i want or need a 7 point cage but I know I would like to be safe as possible with the added overall stability.

Any comments would help.

Cheers

Neil,

PM Nismoman, who now has Howsie's old car. I think that had a Do-Luck sort of 1/2 cage type deal. Looked very smart.

Edited to say: In fact, he is gonna be at Spa with us if you can wait until then.

The Do-Luck parts are stiffening braces (like the HKS Kansai one), rather than crash protection

Do they offer any protection then Philip, or will they just crumple in an accident?

I considered these for my car when I saw Sean's, but won't bother if it is not an effective rollcage.

About 20 years ago I have a large off in a rally prepared MK1 escourt, we hit a very large tree head on @ 60+ mph. The impact was so hard the flywheel actually cracked and the gearbox casing shatered.
I would never do any motorsport type driving without a good quality Helmet, harness and cage.

But its your life

No mate they are a solid Safety Refresh bar. So that means they are sound.

Send me you're email address chaps and I'll send you some pics of the Do-Luck stuff on my old car. Once fitted I could feel the difference.

Sean,

Am I right in thinking that you got the 'Roll Bar' from Andy at Sumo ?

and did you fit it yourself, or was it a bit complicated ?

Indeed I did get it from Andy/SUMO.

It's a pain to fit, but not complicated. A little bit of advice for you, don't wait until the summer to fit it. And defo don't have a hangover.

Andy,

does it need holes drilling, or does it use existing fixing points ?

and would it be of some benefit in a crash ...?

and how much is it ?

Robbie, no drilling required. It uses all the existing mount points. You'll just need to take a little snip out of the parcel shelf cardboard.

I guess it would help in a crash but not in the same way a full roll cage would.
