My car runs a Greedy T78 Single turbo, and has had the screamer pipe re routed into the exhaust, is there any benefits to be had by having it out again and sealing the exhasut hole obviously.

Thanks TY

you mean apart from the awesome noise? :D

it depends how big your exhaust diameter is really.

having one means you can run a smaller diameter pipe/more restricted for noise regs and run an external screamer to vent the extra airflow when turbo is on song.

(well thats my assumption anyway? if im wrong people feel free to chime in!)

With the exhaust gasses being vented back into the exhaust system with an external wastegate setup, some say that the flow of these gasses can interfere with the flow coming through the turbo itself which causes some sort of harmonic effect blah blah blah ZZzzzzz.....

I've never seen a dyno plot showing the difference so I can't comment on any performance benefits but yes the noise really is awesome! :D

havent seen anyone been black flagged from many races recently for moving noise regs.

only saw it once in TA and have you heard the noise of those cars! nowhere near 105db limits!

all public track days have static testers but not many have moving ones.

dont get me wrong yeah it doesnt eliminate the problem of noise atall just can get you past the first noise test, also on moving tests you just let off for the bit where it is ;)

I can't think of any proper MSA sanctioned UK circuit that DOESN'T have on track noise monitoring. So if you want to enjoy your car on track days on proper circuits NOT having a vented to atmosphere wastegate is the way forward. They are only supplied like that in the kits because they are a lot cheaper to manufacture.

I definitely saw a performance penalty in the 6K-9K range when I routed my two external gates into the exhaust pipe for noise reduction purposes. This is due to the backpressure that is created from the disturbance in exhaust flow. If you are running 700hp (which a T78 should push) and want to keep performance as high as possible, it is better to vent to atmosphere. 0.02c deposited!

I dont know much about all of it. If it was just a pipe, then fair enough, but it sounds more involving than that, so i'll just leave it

Can you have screamers on twins? Namely 2860's?

I'd love to do it to mine. Whats needed to do it also?
Yes you can build screamer on twins. You will need to replace your elbows with ones that have separate tubing for exhaust/wastgate, then just cutoff the pipe going back into the exhaust weld it up and ur rdy for screaming.
I'm going to try this theory on my T517z twins soon will try to takesome pics.

They sound fricken aweful with a screamer pipe and you don't need one to make power. Its basically just an exhaust leak, remind me of the Ford Escort I hooned around in as a young fella when it had a hole in the exhaust manifold.
