Basically as title I'm going to be selling my R33 GTR next year spring time. It is an absolute mint near standard GTR with only breathing mods done, still on original turbos engine internals etc and it has only covered 60k miles (all backed up) of which the car has never been converted to MPH it is still in KM's from when it was imported. No rust dents nothing it is mint.

I have wanted to own a R35 GTR for a long time, and feel now the R33 GTR's are now fetching 30k maybe 30k+ soon that getting a R35 GTR is something I'd like to purchase.

I have read a lot about the R35 over the years and know all the horror stories all the costs etc etc so don't need any advice on that side, I'd only be looking to buy a 2012 onwards model.

I'm just wondering what you all think, all my mates say I'm daft to sell the R33 as it is now a car getting rare especially in mines condition.

I can't see the R33 GTR fetching more money but maybe it will so who knows it's not just the money side of my wanting to sell it is literally I want a R35 GTR haha, I'd buy the R35 and keep the R33 but won't have the space. I don't know I'm really torn what to do

Really just depends on why you own the 33. Novelty. Nostalgia. Old skool jap or because when You bought it it was fast and fairly modern.
the 35 is the better car unless you just prefer old cars

I made the change from my 33 which I had owned for 9 years to a 2009 35 which I owned for 7.5 years.

In all honesty I would go to a few meets when they start up again and get a few test drives under your belt before making the decision.

The is an amazing car in almost every way but I suspect one day you will start looking back at the times you had in your 33 and thinking which was more fun?

Happy to chat if you want to pm me.

Hold on to your R33, R35's are lovely but for future value and raw feel 33 wins hands down, I've got both a my19 car and a Nismo Fine Spec R33 gtr and the R33 gets more attention and is going up in value more than gold.

I own the R33 as I always wanted one since I seen the Yellow one in F&F haha plus to me the R33 GTR it's my favourite looking out of the R32 R34 that's just my opinion . And I do like my old school Jap cars and I used to do a lot of project work but now I work heck of a lot more hours I don't have the time to fiddle with the car as much, my original plan was to buy and fit upgraded garrett twin turbos new ecu etc but I decided against that as it's just too nice to mess with want to keep it as much as i can original now, plus I got 12 seconds at santapod I was over the moon with that!
Defiantly agree the R35 is better and it is far superior but it should be with all the tech it has.

Cheers man that was some good advice about getting out in one I was thinking of going to a car dealer selling one and getting a test drive that way so yeah I might do that.

It's good to know you made the same choice I'm thinking of doing so you can speak to me from experience from how you feel.

That's something I think I'd probably end up doing however least I would always know and have the proof that I owned one and enjoyed it

Thanks mate I might drop you a message and have a chat :)

If you can keep hold of your 33 and still get a 35 I'd do that
That is something I have thought about a loooot and I'd love to make it happen but don't think I can but I'll try my best and think a few things through

I heard the R35 is now being discontinued and that prices may now increase because of that, or perhaps the increase will happen just won't be as drastic as R33's are going up.
You are right R33's are going up fast I've seen them advertise and sell higher prices now that the R32's some are fetching over 32K+ now. Torque GT said they'd advertise mine for me for £32K
Funny you should mention about the R33 getting more attention as when I went santapod last year I had more people commenting, taking pictures and asking me about it then my mates R35 parked next to it :ROFLMAO:

Thanks for all the comments and advice guys, I'm still undecided I won't be selling till spring if I do sell as the MOT is up now and I always SORN it and leave it in the barn during winter, so I got till then to make a decision.
I went out to the barn today to look at my GTR and couldn't stop looking at it and saying to myself I just don't know what to do the more I looked at it the more I smiled and couldn't decide even more

advertise for £32k ? assume their commission is 2-3k so let’s say buyer wants a little discount & you end up with £29k

you going to struggle to get anything nice 35 wise

the bills are a lot heavier with the 35 , but it’s a much better daily

Are R33’s actually selling for that sort of money though? I can’t say I’ve seen any. Plenty of 32’s but no 33’s recently.

Basically yes but I'd be left with £32K as I'd ask for £33K take off there part and I'll be left with £32k ish.
It wouldn't be my daily non of my cars like that are daily that's why I have a daily run around like my ford no wat would any GTR of mine be a daily used car

Bills don't bother me as I can do pretty much everything myself, and have a mate who can stamp the book up for me and anything I can't do it'll go to Nissan or Litchfield, not bothered about that side of things.

You'll regret it... Guarantee you
I know lol, but this is why I think I'd wait for now and see what happens.

Interesting. I hadn't seen any for sale for ages to be fair.
The reason for that is as Takamo said because they all get sold so quick, I seen a mint Midnight Purple one up for £37K only had like 50K miles on it, think it sold in half a day or something silly.

if you looking to retain value, don’t do the work on a 35 yourself or get a mate to stamp a book . Get Lichfield or similar to do all the work , you would not buy one with a home mechanic doing the same

if I was you I’d keep the 33

I'd only be doing work like oil and filter changes and brake pads tyres etc wouldn't be anything else different so it wouldn't lose value just by doing things like that bud, services would be done by Nissan or Lichfield, I change oil before they are due instead of 6K miles I change them 3K that's what I mean by, but things like the Major services at certain mileage will always be done by Nissan or Lichfield so it'll hold it's value.

I personally lusted for a 35, but I could not let the 32 go to pay for it, and I know I wouldn't get another as easily whereas if I was to sell the 35 there's a heap of them in varying price and performance and are more readily available. I feel that the 35 surpassed my expectations but the 32 started me on this merry dance as that set the standard for me in the 1st place.

As for the home Mechanic dealio.
Proud to say I've just done a 6 month oil and filters (airfilters oil and cabin filters) on my 35 after the last owners kept it up to date with Specialists every 6 months. I'm breaking the chain of its service history and I don't give 2 hoots 🥳
From a Resale perspective it may hurt it a little I'm sure IF (and that's a big if) I ever did decide to sell it but I have receipts for all the bits plus photos and videos of it being done but then selling it is not something I am thinking about.

Keep the 33 dude, value is only going up, 35's as nice as they are, far more of them about than 33's

BTW, just to echo you, I also do oil every 3k, I did 3006 miles and wouldn't move it for 2 weeks till I serviced it 🤣
