Hi

I have a MY16 GT-R. Annual Service at Charles Hurst HPC Belfast and now up for her 3rd year service just before warranty runs out.

10k miles. Feel as if I am being ripped off on 3rd annual service cost. They say its a major service and breakdown is this:

3rd annual service (oil and filter - not sure what else!) £849
Gear oil £483
Diff oil £208
Optimisation - free of charge
Tyre calibration - usually £120 but getting that included (I have a flat tyre warning light on I cannot get off even after new tyres)

They will need her for 2 days they say, and get this - they giving me a Micra as a courtesy car. £1,500 amnd top of range model, and I get a Micra.

Am contempating a trip to UK. Make a trip of it. Any suggestions? Boat from Dublin to Holyhead or Liverpool, or Belfast to Scotland. Obviously trying to limit the miles on the other side, and would want to go somewhere thats good - but maybe the pricing all the same. We have no option now in Ireland as I see it as Momentum Motorsport dont service any more.

Thoughts welcome.
Thanks
Ronan

ACSpeedtech are 25 miles from Liverpool.

Nissan NHPC Manchester quoted me £1200 for the 3 year major service (I'd bought it from them 3 months previously) - that was 5 years go. I declined their kind offer.

And when I had it back with the brakes, they offered me a Leaf, until they found out I intended to drive it more than 5 miles so they gave me a Note instead.

Thanks folks.

I've emailed Middlehurst to see their pricing.

Iain from Litchfield also came back to me - yeah 705 quid inclusive of VAT for everything. 53%/795 quid cheaper. Its a trip but seriously considering now....

Might get a stage upgrade while i'm there:runaway:

What did you end up doing mate?
I am in a similar situation.
My MY16 is due its 48 month service in April and I was intending to go to Charles Hursts in Belfast but after reading your post I am wary!!
Just tried to ring them and was on hold for 20mins before I gave up! Not a good start to any dealings with them!

Went to Litchfield
bit of adventure. Round trip was quicker than the 2 days Hurst wanted and overall was £1000 rather than £1500. Overnight ferry to Liverpool from Dublin. Drove down that morning. Done that afternoon and drove back for overnight ferry back.
it’s worth it even to spend the day at Litchfields - some stuff there. I got a stage 4 upgrade while I was there and was still done by 430 pm and had time for ferry back. Car has 650 bhp now and switchable maps. Great job.

Ahh right, that may be my best option too then. I need to get speaking to Hursts first and see what they say but I am not hopeful.
How long did Litchfields need the car for? Is there somewhere to wait while they have the car?

Basically hurst wanted it for 2 days but litchfield can do the service in 5 hrs so get booked in for 830 am. Ferry gets in around 6am. Get a cabin to sleep. 130 mile trip but you’ll hit rush hr traffic there and back. Still timing is ok. You’ll make the 930pm overnight ferry back. Even with the stage 4 upgrade I was gone at 430pm
you’ll pass the day wandering around litchfield. neill should show you “the garage” ?
They will drop you into local town for lunch etc. I went for a run while I was there And did some work on the laptop.

Thanks mate. Really not happy with the customer service, attitude and price from Hursts.
They told me the 48 month service costs £999 and if the car needed gear and diff oil it would be an additional £1257, total cost £2256!!!! absolute jokers!
Rang Litchfield this morning and booked the car in with them. £420 for service. Will obviously still need to factor in travel costs but will still be far cheaper than Hursts!
Much easier to deal with and pay!!
will just have to make a day of it :)

Do Litchfield or auto torque offer a decent curtesy car?

You’ll happy wander around litchfields for 4 hrs. They don’t really offer a courtesy I think but will drive you into the local town for lunch etc.
That was crazy pricing from hurst. Looks like I will be back at Litchfield this year again when mine hits the 48 month mark.

Most indies don't offer a courtesy car I've found. ACSpeedTech don't and when I had an Aston and took it to an indy neither did they. But both are/were more than happy to pop you to the station etc.

Also when I took mine to SVM they popped me to Iron Bridge and I tooled around, had lunch and so on and then gave them a ring and they came and fetched me back.

I assume it helps keeps their costs down - seems fair to me.

If your looking GTR servicing/repairs in Northern Ireland give Gary Hughs a call at Hughs Autos, he’s located at Ophir Motors old site just down from the Nutts corner roundabout.

Gary was Charles Hurst Nissans GTR master Tech before opening his own garage.
He looks after many GTR’s and has all the latest Nissan and GTR software, he’s honest, reliable and won’t be charging you main dealer prices.

Good to know, although I am probably going to put my GTR up for sale soon (baby due in April!) so for resale purposes I'd like to have a well known GTR specialist such as litchfields stamp in the service book.
