Hi guys, we have set the ball rolling to emigrate to Australia, does anybody know a company or give me details of shipping my R33 GTR over there? Also will it be easy to register my car over there? If its to hard or to costly I will have to sell my car which I have searched for years lol

Any info would be appreciated

Which port in Australia did you want the car shipped to ?
And would you be able to deliver the car to a Container Depot in the UK ?

We shipped a 34 to Melbourne for another GTROCer a few years ago.
From what I remember, he had to have a 'come round and help me clean the car' party,
as the Authorities in AUS will expect it to be completely free of dirt and grime in order
to be free of pests and seeds etc.

This included steam cleaning the underneath of the car.

From a quick convo with the OH's sisters husband last year they're very expensive out there compared to in the UK.

That said I got done for literally 101kmph in a 100kmph zone when I was in Melbourne last, damn the power of the micra! I'd be very worried in my GTR there.

Note: Was obviously not meaning to speed but the big rigs come right up your backside in the slow lane there!

Agreed, one of the chaps up the pub was in AUS for a Wedding a year ago, and got busted by the Feds for doing 5 kmh (3 mph) over the speed limit in his hire car ....
Not the place to be if you like speeding ! :thumbsup:

Aussie is very tricky to get a car into, and even harder to get one registered if it has any modifications at all......I'd never be able to get my car on the road there.

to pass the import inspection, you will have to return the car to completely *standard specification*.. dont bother.

Why not buy stock parts which should be very cheap and fit them to make it look standard and then ship it over. Send your mods over separately?

There is a difference between personal imports to Aus. & importing via a compliance plate system. Only the later requires the car to be standard when tested. Personal Imports can be modified.

We have supplied several modified cars via the personal Import scheme to Australians returning there in the past including most recently Hipo GT-R's R35 GT-R modified by Top Secret.

If you're emigrating there, I believe you fall into the same category, Richard and can import your car.

You'll need to satisfy all the personal import criteria, but provided you can do so including providing proof of employment, residential status, etc. then you will be able to import.

Personal Imports Option

The link above has information on Personal Import to Aus. It's geared to cars coming from Japan since the vast majority of personal imports there are from this source, but aside from Japanese translations and Japanese documents the equivalent UK documents will also work. You'll need to contact Camberra to make inquiries. Expect them to be slow and inefficient - just like most government agencies.

Go onto skylines australia and someone on there will be able to direct you.

Also you may find some not-so-good forum comments on Edwards Lees.

It can be very difficult to find a clean R33 over here.
