The third edition of the GTROC’s Sky Lines magazine was delayed until early 2005, due to some redesign work by a professional magazine type-setter. As a result of this work we have kept some of the changes he made (but not all) and with 48 pages the magazine was still an excellent read.

Some of the articles in this edition included the normal Chairman’s Chat, a write up about the track day at Donington Park and a review of the GTROC’s attendance at the Scottish Classic and Performance Car Show. From Dino in Japan we had a really interesting article about the D1GP round in Tsukuba. Incidentally, starting in 2007 will be a regular feature put together by Piers in Japan about what is happening over there. Look out for it.

Other articles included a review of the events we attended in 2004 by Claire and some notes on security systems compliance. Other articles included the AGM minutes (as we have to publish these why not use the Club’s magazine to do the job), plus, a write up from Silverstone.

The Members Monster was Howsie’s R34 GTR monster.

The big three articles in this edition were the second part of the Skyline History. Taking the story of the Skyline from 1993, when Nissan was founded out of Jidosha Seizo Co Ltd, Nihon Sangyo Co, and Tobata Imono Co.; right up to the launch of the R32. The first part of the history was in edition 1 of the GTR Owners Club magazine.

By now the magazine was reaching good circulation figures and is on the must read list for all club members, sponsors and even the press in the form of Japanese Performance, Banzai and Redline.

The R34 GTR Buyers Guide published in edition 3 was reproduced by kind permission of Japanese Performance magazine and was the second in a series of articles about buying and modifying Skylines.

Finally there was an article on the JGTC championship generally and why and how the Skylines have become so dominant. This article was kindly presented to us by Race Car Engineering Magazine who gave us permission to reproduce.

If you’re not a member and you ever wondered what the talk of “Sky Lines” is hopefully now you will know. If you want yours check out the GTR Owners Club and sign up, the magazine is free to members anywhere in the world and comes out every 3 months.

If you missed out on the Sky Lines magazine edition 3 you can order from the stock we have of back copies. Copies are £5 each for GTROC members and £7.50 for non members. With 11 editions published so far if you’re not a member you might as well join and save yourself £25 in the process! All orders should be sent with a cheque made payable to GTROC and sent to P.O. Box 43519, Putney, London, SW15 3WB, England. Please add £2 postage and packaging per order. We have copies of all editions of the magazine except Sky Lines edition 1, but remember numbers are limited.

John,

did you get the write-up for Oulton Park in November or did I send it to Dave?

I've got something else for you as well.

Jae,

Sky Lines 11 will go to print in February and will be released to members in March. We've been working on the format so expect to se a change (improvement) in the layout, plus a refresh of some of the regular features and also even more content! :)
