Who would be best to set my suspension up? I'm on the Isle of Wight so would need a south coast garage.

Currently my car has HKS Hypermax 2 coil over shocks and I assume the accompanying springs. Basically the car is too hard and a little too low. What I want done is the ride height increased a little and the ride to be as soft as possible. If this means changing the springs then so be it. I'd need a place that knows how a skyline should feel so they would know when its soft or hard based on the standard settings.

Also the car pulls to the right if you let go of the wheel on a straight section of road and the steering wheel isn’t on square (i.e. when the wheels are facing forward the steering wheel is slightly off centre to the right).

I'd want the camber checking so I don’t end up scrubbing the corners off my tyres.

Recommendations / thoughts on where to go would be great, oh and what is it likely to cost :-D

Many Thanks

Dan,

If you have one, take the car to a motorsport shop, ie someone who prepares or races cars. They should have the right equipment to not only change the ride height and soften it up but also to corner weigh the car and balance it right using the suspension.

A normal garage should be able to do the first part but having the scales is more specialised. Check your Yellow pages for a motorsport firm.

IOW

I bet you'll find one, go one challenge yourself to find one. Even if you find someone who races 3 wheelers, they will have what you need and should understand the principles of what you need done.

The fact its a GTR dont matter, its 4 wheels and a seat mate...

Dan,

i forgot to say we have the corner weight scales to do the corner wieghts and I was in the motor racing game as a mechanic and a chief mechanic for few years prior to working with my father at www.abbeymotorsport.co.uk

I worked at Porsche, Panoz and Lister to name a few companies.

Yes we have the latest 4 wheel alignment and corner weight scales, we can set your Road or Track cars up to the best set up.

Dan, If you dont fancy travelling to Australia to see Mark :D then;
I use Christchurch tyre company (www.christchurchtyre.co.uk) as they are close to us (and you - about 15-20 mins drive from Lymington ferry terminal) and come well recomended. They were individually recomened to me by RX motors, Stuart ATP developments and M6beg (mick begley) they are meant to be very VERY good. I have also heard that they did the setup on PMJ's R32 and it was apparently a changed car afterwards!

Please let me know if you find a cheap way to get back and forth to the Island without swimming and do you have 3 arms LOL (enough inbread IOW jokes)

Ant.

Cheers AJ, Red Funnel is the cheapest but it would have to be Wight Link to get to Lymington. Either way its a bloddy rip off.

3 arms? nope, but i've nearly got a 3rd leg :D
