Youve seen our cars, we come here and chat this and that but have you ever looked into what we are really about?

To find out more we have a large website that you can visit for:

The most extensive HKS parts listing on the net - direct from the HKS database
Details of the manufacturers we either re-sell for or distribute ( there is a difference! )
Parts listings for most of the brands we sell
Pictures and videos of our cars in action
Specifications of our demo cars
Advice on tuning upgrades in stages for first-timers
News and updates of our racing activities
and so much more

Did you also know that we have our own office in Japan with 4 staff, based in Yokohama where we source many parts that we are dealers/distributors for as well as all the other parts that we are not 'official ' dealers of but have strong friendships with ( some of the most famous companies in Japan ).

With such a strong structure for our business, based on solid and professional parts supply, we can source whatever you need from Japan and can even get the answers for some of the most obscure parts!

We have a small team of knowledgable staff in our offices in Sheerness and if they dont have the answer, Sumo Japan will and our boys can find out with ease.

Yes, sometimes we are not the cheapest - we have a professional business to run and plan to be here tomorrow when you phone, but we do promise a professional service and often have clear-out or specials on offer so we are always worth a try even if you are on a budget to find your bits.

If you havent tried us before, next time you need something, why not ask, we are only an email away.

www.sumopower.com

Even if you dont buy your bits from Sumo and have no intention to, check the site and have a nose around, you may be surprised at how much information is there.

End of my sales pitch!

Cheers

Andy

Cars

Hi,

Sorry we dont, although we have imported over 300 cars in the past, since 1997, we no longer do.

We even imported and tested the 400R which arrived in the UK a few years back with Shin, the one and only to ever grace our shores ( as well all the other cars Shin imported in his time here )

Kleerfreight ( my other company ) were responsible way back in the day for almost 90% of the Jap Import cars landing in the UK, way before we started Sumo.

Been there, done that, got the medal and certificate for being an expert in that business. :D

To help you - If you want to source a car, try my friend in Japan : www.rushcorp.com - We used to buy all our car from this chap.

Good luck

Andy

I have to ask this. What is the difference in a consumers point of view between a re-seller and a distributor?

I assume if a problem araise, customers can go straight to the distributor to get it sorted where re-seller will need to go back to the distributor, so you are just working 1 down on the chain.

However, since most of the products we buy for our car needs to be installed, therefore warranty won't come with alot of products as it may fail due to bad installation.

End of the days, it is alot of time Price vs Service. You can pay a cheaper price if you are willing to take the risk of import and defective goods. But I want to hear what a distributor have to say from a distributor point of view. Any Past cases that you can share with us that buying from a distributor make a difference?

Dist

Hi,

Glad you asked.

Re-seller / Dealer : This means that you are an end-user supplier in most cases, ie you buy from a distributor ( someone who keeps stock to supply you ). Some get confused by advertising they are a ' Distributor ' when they are actually a dealer.

Distributor : You deal with the manufacturer and distribute thier products on thier behalf to dealers and sometimes to the end-user if you are geared for it.You keep stock to supply your dealers.

For instance, Sumo is an HKS Distributor, we represent HKS as a sales point for dealers but we also supply retail and we keep stock. We also distribute for AEM, DC Sports, J's Racing and of course Do-Luck. All the other products we sell, we are a dealer for as we do not distribute officially to re-sellers.

Of course we supply lots of brands to shops and our dealers but under no official capacity unless we have set it up in that way.

You'd be surprised by the amount of companies that claim 'official' of this and that without any real authorisation to claim that status or try to give an indictation that they are, especially as far as Japanese brands go.

If you are looking for backup if something is wrong, you need to ensure you buy from someone who is in fact official although thats sometimes hard to ascertain. Any manufacturer, whether they in Japan or otherwise will tell you if they have an authorised dealer or distributor in your area/country and if they dont, that tells you all you need to know if someone is claiming different.

The manufacturer may not know who the local distributor has setup as dealers however if you get pointed in the direction of a local distributor, you are on the right track to ask them who their dealers are.

Hope that helps. :)

Andy

Ps. Hodgie, Dont let Rob's secrets out! :D
Pps. Andy.F - We sell bits for everything Jap! not only Skylines, thats why we have demo cars for the most popular models, we tinker, we learn, we pass it on to the customers where we can.
