Evening all.

As per the title, I installed wheel spacers 20mm back and 15mm front and now getting a wobble through the steering wheel at about 85mph. I'm 99% sure it was stable as anything before that. It's just like a wheel is out of balance.

I installed a new steering wheel at the same time but can't think it would be anything to do with that.

Front tyres are down to about 20% so due for a change soon.

Any ideas? Could using spacers mess with the balance of a wheel?

Take them off and try the car without them that's the only way to be sure
What make did you buy
I've eibach 15mm front and back with no issues

As above said,, take the front 2 off and try again,
Wheels out of balance is about 65 mph. And stops about 70/75
The wobble is not a balance problem

that's my exact thought mate, ive had new discs do this to me as I didn't clean the hub and surface rust made the disc sit uneven and caused major steering shake on brakeing

Cheers chaps. I'll whip them off the next few days and have a good look.
They are eibachs, quality looks good so I suspect user error!

Where did you get the eibach spacers from bud and if you don't mind me asking, what did they cost? PM if you don't want to post

I got them from Andy at ACSpeedtech as he's done all the tuning on my car (although I fitted these myself) sure he will give you a price. Mine were part of a package deal so not sure the exact price.

I can't lower my car but these def help improve the look of the way it sits on the road.

Seeing a couple of threads on this forum about broken spacers .....don't buy cheap ones!

So took off the front spacers and cleaned everything. Put wheels back on without spacers and torqued up to 145. It's def better but still there at about 85 - 90.
Braking is solid with no judder.

When the balancing is off on my 320d it's about the same sort of speed I notice it.

What else could it be if not wheel balance?

Get the wheels rebalanced as it's sounds for sure that's your issue

Could be shooting in the dark but the other thing I changed were the locking nuts.

Old locking nut is 66grms
New locking nut is 59grams
Standard gtr nut is 33 grams

Unfortunately I can't put the old ones back on because the key broke.

Yeh that's the next logical thing to try for sure.

The tyre place down the road have got a machine that measures for wheel buckle. They actually rotated the tyre on the rim of the BMW and it made a huge difference.

Are the spacers hubcentric?
Sounds to me as though they are not running true and causing your issues

As said above remove them and try the car without them, if no wobble then it's 100% the spacers causing the prob

Yep..hubcentric .

Did that this morning and there's still a wobble although less so.
Hoping it's just a wheel out of balance and the spacers are accentuating it.
