Stock R32 GTR Flywheel Limit?

Hello,

I'm in the process of rebuilding my engine. I've decided to go with a new beefy clutch but unfortunately the clutch doesn't include a flywheel. I was wondering if can I just surface the flywheel (and balance it) and call it a day? The car will put out around 500-550whp. I've heard of stock flywheels shattering before, but the GTR's is pretty heavy thats why I'm wondering. I don't mind having a heavier clutch as the car will see more road then track.

Thanks
Mitch

No problem at all with 550hp.
Im running a tripple plate quartermaster on a stock flywheel, with 586hp 680nm torque at all 4 hubs.

Just make sure there are no cracks etc and have it balanced properly.

I am running 931whp/841nm (1119hp/1001nm) on a stock flywheel thats been machined so the triple plate Tilton would fit.
And like Asim wrote... have it balanced properly!

I think it's not so much that it's a stock versus aftermarket issue, but how well the stock flywheel has been conditioned. There HAVE been many cases of stock flywheels machined by hacks shattering on all kinds of cars.

That being said, I just went with a Nismo, but it came with my clutch.
