Hi,

I am currently looking at my options for importing my Skyline, later this year or early next year.

I have seen some very good offers on the internet....FOB Prices, and won't have the money to put the car through an SVA straight away.

My question is, would the car need to be put through an SVA straight away?
The car is going to be declern as 'SORN' to the DVLA for about the first 2 years of it being in the country.

Thanks,
Regards,
-Elliot

If the car is over 10 years old then no ESVA is needed... you need only an MOT... younger and no ESVA, you are driving a car without an MOT [but with knobs on] and this is [rightly] frowned upon and the penalties are fierce.

Elliot,
Would it not make more sense to put your money away. Somewhere that you can't get at it for two years, and have it earn some interest ?

As opposed to plying it into a depreciating asset ?

re sva on my gtt

i personaly imported my gtt (34) in march @ £10145

the cost of sva and registing car was as follows
( i done the sva convesion work my self )
fog light o/e nissan £54.86
fuel neck resictor £14.99
Speedo convertor £57.99
sva test £ 180.00
tax and registation fee £ 105.47
number plates £ 20.00

total £ 433.31 + car @ £10145 = £10578

not bad for a er 34 gtt manual in white 64k standard aprt from
altar/nismo rear wing and total immaculate interior and one
small dent on the out side ( one pence piece sise )
this car as it is a manual would cost about £ 14000 over hear
it is july 1998 .

see you at jap fest

Hi,

Thank you for your replies. :)

Mycroft, I believe my car will be over 10 years old, or at least around that age.

Jason and Dino. I suppose it would be a good idea, but at the moment I don't think I can last any longer than the end of the year before I will import one. I will have a long think about it. :)

Ian, Thanks for the figures. :)

No is the answer to your original question you dont have to do anything with it you dont want to, you can test it & register it years after the event.
Just cant drive it til its done thats all.

Hi Rob,

Thank you. It's given me a lot of help, and now I feel confident to go along with the importing process later this year. :)

Thanks,
