Uprated heavy duty clutch kit in stock at Abbey ,£258-60p plus vat.

Tony
Can you tell me if this is meant to be a direct replacement for a worn original clutch please

If it is, then what will the feel be like compared to the standard unit?

Also, does it matter if my car is push or pull?

SORRY for the thread hijeck BTW

It fits the standard flywheel.

Some people like the FEEL of leather, some like nylon..........Lol.

If you mean is it heavier pedal pressure, yes very slightly.

This is for a push clutch. The puller is slightly bigger and therefore slightly dearer.

Had one of these Exedy kits fitted by Abbey in my R33-GTR I was very happy with it and did not seem any heavier than the original.

But then I do have big feet:D

Hell leather or nylon I dont care. Providing its solid and makes me grin rather than slipping about all over the shop...

Tried to pm you but your mail box was full.

Can you tell me definitive check to see if mine is push or pull and if mines a pusher then I check the cost to fit it locally and if not prohibitive will buy one from you.

Need to register for the Ggtiroc forum so will do asap. Read the MLR thread though & that links to a thread on a ford forum (need to register for that too) I wonder how far i can round the internet i can go just by clicking links in threads :D

Wish i'd done some a bit more homework before i bought mine now.

I searched on here & soc & got no results at all. Perhaps should have had a look on other forums as well. Lesson learned i guess. You pay for cheap in the end :(

I've only ever had one problem with e-bay and they were very helpful in getting me a full refund. Took about 5 days, but 100% returned.

Leave neg feedback though! Can't understand why they haven't got lots of neg stuff, if the links are anything to go by????

draggin the old thread up, just to let ya know, will be removing mine very shortly as fed up of it...

brand new stage 1 clutch ? i think not...

finally started booting her like a good un... if i pull away then floor it, she lovely all the way up,

If i try and do what a skyline is famous for... dumpin clutch at 7000rpm n f'ing off down the road @ stupidly high speed, i get huge clutch slip, and huge stink.. also, get this with ANY dumping of the clutch...

It just cant handle the torque... and its not as if i havnt even bedded the clutch in, it had about 2000km with no dumping/launches etc

So yea, dont get 1!!!

you will never be able to dump the clutch at 7k using a std single plate item... go for a twin plate nismo, ORC, OS or ATS carbon.. then you can give it lots of abuse

but stage 1 gtr surely covers upto atleast 500bhp surely ??? thats only mild tune for a gtr lol

and i aint even upto 400bhp so anything advertised being stronger than std (300bhp std rating?) should be able to cope id of thought, otherwise false advertising.... ?

Anywhere cheapish to get a twin plate or looking @ £1000 just for the part ?

Tony - Your Abbey one for £250 any good at dumpin clutch ? :) :)

Skyline69... would love to, but clutch is slipping too much to get n e where lol

Kind of a moot point but I would suggest that 500 Brake is firmly in Stage 2 territory.

It's designed to hold the power once engaged, with safety margin. If you abuse the **** out of it, like you are, it will not like it. You complain about the smell, which must mean that it's an organic clutch, in which case it is not up to the sort of abuse you want to give it. Even at standard power, it will not stand up to hardcore launches.

If you want to launch in such an agressive manner, you will need a much hardier clutch.

Agreed, an organic clutch is designed to have a certain amount of "slip" in it, when you let loose the dogs of war at 7K the "slip" quickly generates heat and degrades the organic material.

You need a metal/ceramic plate that is designed not to slip and can better cope with the higher temps involved that repeated launches demand.

I could burn out a MK5/MK6 Evo clutch in a few launches, the O/E clutch can hold the torque of the vehicle all day long ... but it cannot deal with a few lairy launches, same goes for 99% of all organic clutches ... they are simply not designed for it.

My stage 1 killed a nismo single plate clutch in a few hard launches.. asfter that it started to slip at 5k launches.. gradually got worse...

Replaced it with an ORC 709D £750 delivered and fitted... as again with skyline bits they are only as expensive as you make them...shop around and you can pick up a bargain!
