Hi Guys,

I have been asked by a few friends of mine from the RSOC to put a post up on the register to see if anyone is interested in a top speed challenge in 2002 at say Brunty??
These guys have 500+ bhp cossies in various guises, with the fastest 3 in the U.K wanting to go head to head with some BIG BHP Skylines...
I have provisionally put my name down for this, but wondered how many people would be interested in the "challenge"...

As this is a provisional thing we can work out details nearer the time , this is just to gauge the interest factor!!

Many Thanks

Just to give you a brief idea, the Reyland escort cossie, was out testing last week and ran a "PROVEN" 187.7 mph which is dam quick for a cossie!!!
This car is currently under going development work to try and hit the 200 mph barrier in 2002!!

The guys in question are really nice people, and think it will be a very good atmosphere, no frowning and daggers!!!

Will keep you all informed..

Best Regards

Guy

Don't tell me you just realised that  . To max a Skyline you'll probably need more than Bruntingthorpe. Therefore it won't be a top-speed challenge me thinks.

Bit like the Revs ones. 0 to 1.2 miles sold as a 'top speed challenge'.

Plus the likes of you or I Guy, and quite a few others, ain't really got cars worthy of the challenge. Gary-GT-ART is a definite, so is Mr. OS GIEKEN-Middlehurst, and Rupert/Ronnie-Abbeymotorsport( who you forgot to give a link to in the other thread by Mike Rainbird of RSOC you naughty man you Guy, especially after they have ran the biggest bhp Skyline on Tuning Japanese's dyno) plus anyone else who SERIOUSLY reckons they have what it takes. If it is at Bruntingthorpe and you ain't got 600bhp plus then leave it to the guys(or gals  , keep doing that) that have. I would love to run on that day but wouldn't want to take up time that could be perhaps better used. Unless I was paying of course.

Mike does make a good point when he says a magazine is prepared to pay. They will only want the best 'cause they are paying for that.

By the way I ain't undermining our cars here just being realistic. Remember the old power to weight over a given distance. You can't deny the laws of physics. If it is top speed then make it top speed. FLAT OUT IN TOP IS TOP SPEED.

ps. Well how about a run to the VW track. I am sure that Redback mentioned it in a previous thread sometime ago and that is seriously flat-out?? Mind you Cossies would probably blow up ;) . Only kidding :D .

And I thought I could swerve Guy.

You can see why I like going in a straight line now can't you. After spinning at Kemble I prefer to keep it on the straight.

Nah I don't fancy trying to hit 180 for the sake of a free run. This is a challenge and should only be taken up by those whose commitment far exceeds their signature on a cheque far to small to make them included in such a challenge as this.

Never said you were biased Guy and you definetly don't need to explain yourself. Don't know where you got that from ?

I'd be up for it next year, a decent speed would be attainable at brunters if it was a rolling start so you hit the straight at 100mph+ from the bottom bend. I managed an indicated 170mph with no mods (this is probably more like 160 in reality though) so would hope for 180+ now.
However if the numbers are limited then the 'Big Boys' should get first refusal.
