I was thinking the same thing. But how come Willall seem to be the only company who make a suitable oil? Surely Motul or somebody make an oil to the right spec?

I'm not going to run a car which requires transmission oil changes every 1800 miles! :runaway:

Might look at their TM oil cooler too.

Whenever I drive my car, it is always the TM oil that is at the highest. Engine oil is never high and coolant temp never budges.

Yeah... me too. I get my tranny oil close to 100 deg just driving to work which is 9 miles away albeit in London traffic. Seems close to the magic 110 mark for what takes 30 - 45 mins depending on traffic.

you are unlikely putting it under much strain in slow traffic so I wouldn't worry

does anyone know where to get this willall tranny fluid from in Uk/ london?
also, anywhere to fit it in Lon..?
And what about engine oil?
And will using the willall tranny fluid cause any warranty issues if they notice it has been changed and there is any problem?

Coming up to 1200 miles now and wanted to make sure all fluids are tip top.
I can't understnad why Nissan don't recommend to change any fluids until 6,000 miles - surly there will be plenty of swarf in there from the running in?!

Spoke to Andy Middlehurst about this yesterday and he confirmed that using non-Nissan approved fluids would cause issues should a warranty claim arise, so it's your risk.

BTW, if you take the trans oil temp above 110c they do insist on a full oil change within 1800 miles, so you won't have to wait until 6000 miles if that happens! (Which it almost certainly will on track.)

Just to say, I bit the bullet and ordered the Willall trans fluid. Paid on Tuesday arrived today, not bad considering it had to be shipped from Australia!

Will report back on how it performs when I get Middlehurst to do the 6k mile service (early as my car is only on 4,100 miles but it needs a complete fluid change now).

i spoke with head of Nissan technical about this oil, I wanted to use it, but he said Nissan wont warranty on it until Japan tells them yes.
Not pleased, as if it does what it says on the tin then its the best option. :(

That's what really annoys me about Nissan's stance. The gearbox is not kaput if the solenoid sticks! You can repair/replace the solenoid!

And in the US, that is exactly what some specialists are now doing, for no more than $1500 a pop.

Why do Nissan insist on a complete new gearbox if one tiny component fails?

Car's booked in for service at Middlehurst's next week.

I will be supplying the Willall and Motul 15v50 engine oil.

Gary has already told me that his hands are tied re warranty claims if the trans fluid is not the stock one, but I'm counting on the Willall dramatically reducing my chances of needing to claim on the warranty in the first place...

Cool. Let us know how you get on with it. Got a fright reversing uphill onto one of my drives - in addition to the problems that others have posted about here http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/122862-trouble-reversing-up-gradients.html, I also noticed that the transmission temps were getting very high. Seems the transmission doesnt like reversing slowly uphill.

Just a thought but the box isn't a Nissan design I understand. Perhaps the agreement Nissan has with the OEM doesn't allow them to repair them. Given the failure rate and associated bad press I'd be renegotiating my contract with the box supplier if I was Nissan...

No it happens with other things too. Say the engine... If something brakes they part swap no repairs. Its like that for many dealers. Heck my nissan maxima they won't repair the trans they just replace it. Its an auto from 97. Other cars the same. Dealers don't do that kind of work even tho they charge double for swapping parts (unless its warranted).

In america we have a law about that. Think there is one in the eu too? Regardless nissan is going to fix this issue due to a legal issue from the recent law suit. It won't be until the next years car but well likely find out more details a few months from now.

Isnt it about time one of our enterprising traders got a container load of the official Nissan stuff from Japan or the USofA and brought it over to sell on to us with a margin....

Must be cheaper than Nissan marking up all their costs to get it here........

We had some of the standard fluid chemically tested and its not as special as you might think, very similar to the ATF used on honda factory fill.

Fuchs came up with a match against their ATF5000, we have tested this with GTC and as suspected, no isssues.

Cheers
