Alright,

Still on my search for knowledge and the like to make my mind up as to keep my Evo IV or sell and get a Skyline.

Basically I'm not a fan of the look of the R32 at all, so I've decided not to got for a GTR R32.

I really want a R33 GTR but the prices seem to be out of my budget (bar one or two which I always seem to JUST miss).

Therefore I'm after some advise on which is the 'best' 2.5 Single Turbo? As there seems to be quite a few different variations. Ideally I'm after the latest model possible for under 8K, but I want good performance to at least match the Evo.

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers,

Diehard

why have you decided against the 32 gtr? your 8k budget will buy a good example

its the only one which will give you evo like performance without spending megabucks on mods

Don't get me wrong, I'm not slating the performance of R32, just don't like it's looks to be honest. I think the R33 is much better looker...

Hence why I'd go down the route of a slightly underpowered GTS over a R32 GTR.

But I want the 'best' single turbo there is... If there is such a thing. There just seems to be quite a few versions.

I think for 8K on a GTT you wont match the performance of the EVO tbh mate, had a GTT running 330bhp and tbh wasn't very quick at all, as others have said perhaps the R32 GTR would be the better bet, will deffo get a very decent one for 8K and they are quicker than they seem.

If all else fails keep the Evo till you have enough funds to get a decent R33 GTR, in which case you got the car you originally wanted,

go and have a look at 32s. I was dead set on a 33 until i looked at a few 32s, initially as i was getting more for my money. Then the squarer more raw shape grew on me.
32 is more of a drivers car, you wont regret it! :squintdan

I will agree that I thought that the R32 looked a bit plain when I first saw one. Looked [email protected] on GTn on the playstation. Really wanted a 33 but budget (5 1/2 years ago) stopped that. Love the shape now and you can improve it with a few simple changes (wheels, ride height, bodykit).
There are a lot of really tasty R32 GTR's in the UK now. Just as an example:thumbsup:

That is nice Dave.:wavey:

Dear Diehard,

A good GTS-t with the correct mods, which for your £8k bugget, is perfectly possible, is a cracking performer.:D Just remember that the GTS-t is only rear wheel drive though!

However, if your a wus and feel the need for 4wd, then a R32 GTR is the one to go for.

And I have to admit, that it took a while, but a love the shape of the 32 now.:bowdown1:

Best of luck,

Andy.

Cheers for the oppinions...

Still not too sure on the R32, have seen a couple in white that I like though (I prefer cars in white for some strange reason). Just got off the phone to someone who has a R33 for £8500 (112k on clock though)... R34 engine, R34 Breaks etc etc, I knew I should have put the Evo up for sale sooner! :(

But also still after some advice on the GTS / GTS-T / GTTs / Spec M etc tec though.

Good researching there mate, like top one.

Also been keeping an eye on that modded GTS aswell... Not a fan of the bonnet though, mind I bet I'd get a good few pennies for it on eBay ;) .

Anyone know anywhere that sells bumped skylines? I'm a biker at heart and build bikes aswell as play with my cars, and like to buy crashed and restore them. So doing the same to a car wouldn't be a problem... In theory...

Well said that man :chuckle:

Like Andy said the R32 shape has grown on me too over the years but the R33 is by far the sexier ...

Just check mine out for an example

Also look at Skylinesrus.com for guides to the different types of R33 & our friends at SOC have a few cracking guides as well.

is the GTS you're looking at the bayside blue one, with a claimed 700 bhp?

looks like a nice car:) would like to see that on here!

i have to admit to, the R32 also had to grow on me. i love them now:D

if it where for a GTST now, i think it would be a really hard choice between a R32 and a R33. R33 for the .5 bigger engine is a huge plus though...

my favourite will stay the R33 GTR though:)

Like a lot of the guys have said previously, go for the full fat, 3 chilli's R32 GT-R you will not regret it! :chuckle: IMHO you would possibly be dissapointed in the GTST or GTT, the GT-R is the dogs as far as the Skylines go. I know I will get a lot of peoples backs up with that statement, but it is my unbiased opinion. :chuckle:

Put it this way, just to try and make a comparison, if you where on the lookout for a fast Escort, RS turbos', RS 2000's, both good cars in their own way  but the Escort Cosworth was the one to have.....................

Skylines in Japan, like your Lancer, have quite a lot of variants but the GT-R is the top of the food chain (so to speak) The R32 is a road going racer, buy a good 400+ hp one and it will be the best thing you will do! :) :) An awful lot of car for not a lot of money! Read up on the history of the car.

R32 GT-R, R32 GT-R, R32 GT-R, R32 GT-R, R32 GT-R repeat this over and over!

Hoping this influences your choice :) .

Cheers
Ian
