Was making my back from a meeting in Kent, still 120 miles from home. Warning came on the dash (driving normally, car doesn't seem any different). Warning says 'engine management error - visit dealer'
Not sure what to do as I'm not sure where there is locally to take it? Or do I just get it back home?

The local dealer is Glyn Hopkin Romford. RM7 9LP
Less than 10 miles from you.

Not sure if they'll have a look straight away...

01708 772890 and ask for Adam.

Do you think it was preceded by a TM warning light or message? A number of threads regarding this failure mode being the solenoids etc or other gearbox funny. Is it still there or will it go away following a few restarts?
Either way I'd drive it home if you have analysis stuff there (Cable etc) or to an NHPC to check clear it. Looking at other threads I'd personally think it would be safely drive-able at worst steadily though.

Not sure which direction you are heading...

Give Sly at Kaizer a call. 07852 291 335 you may only be 30 mins away from him

No GTR technicians in today :-(
Well... that says it all about Glyn Hopkin doesn't it.

Sly is probably your best bet then, but he is 15-20 miles back the way you've come.
Plus you'll be coming back over the Dartford Crossing right in the middle of rush hour which could add an hour of solid traffic to your trip. :(

So it's that or drive home carefully.

Depends how your car is driving mate. If it seems as normal then I think it could be a faulty O2 sensor which I had once but is no drama at all and should be ok for you to drive home carefully and get it looked into. I have had it happen intermittently ages ago when my car was stage 4. I think the gearbox issues would show themselves up with cluncky changes and missed gears etc. so if you are not experiencing any of those then try not to worry yourself uneccessarily.

i had the same, i just connected a ecutek cable to it and reset the error, never had it again, i think as haroon has stated it has something to do with the O2 sensor, my car is also a litchfields stage 4

I hope Iain doesn't mind me posting my email exchange with him some time ago but this could be the source of your problem. As usual a confidence inspiring reply by Iain. Try the code procedure to see what error code comes up.

Hi Haroon,

I***8217;m pleased you are enjoying the car and it***8217;s new power ***61514;

The 0153 is quite a common problem and not something, is usually a sensor that is slightly tired, quite often when you reset the light it will stay off. When you upgrade the power and we reset the ECU it sometimes seems to trigger the fault. If it comes on quickly again I can review a log file that I will get you to record which should help stop it.

Regards

Iain

Subject: RE: GTR MY09 stage 4 request

Hi Iain,

How are you?

Thank you so much for tuning the GTR on Friday, I am loving the car and the increased power/torque. Really does pull so well now. I definitely have to think about the suspension and brake upgrades at some point, then it really will feel like my ideal car.

Just a quick question, yesterday my car came up with an engine malfunction warning. I performed the code procedure, and it output a 0153 code, I believe that corresponds to a faulty o2 sensor on one bank. Is this something that has been replaced or not? Could it be as simple as a dodgy connector? Do you often get this with the stage 4 conversions?

I hope all is well otherwise. Do pass my thanks on to your wife, I***8217;m sure I aggravated her no end with my constant chatting, but I really appreciate you both making the day enjoyable.

Thanks,
Haroon

try spraying some WD40 on the points and check there's no moisture in the Dizzy cap.

Failing that make sure the choke is pushed all the way in.

Hi chaps. Decided to limp it back home. Just stopped at toddington services for a comfort break. Stuck to 60 or below. Car seems to be running fine although I've barely touched the throttle obviously. Gearbox sounds normal and theres no weird smells. Fingers crossed its something simple. Haven't got a cable to see what the error code is though when I do get home. This is where I find being in Northampton I'm miles away from any GTR specialists.

Phoned Dovehouse Cars where I bought the car from (not imagining as a porker specialist they'd have any Nissan stuff) but they've got the diagnostic stuff so I'm taking it there Monday morning. I won't drive it again till then.
Thanks everyone for their advice/comments. Here's hoping its the simple fix most have suggested :)
Took me 4 hours to get back by the way (2.5 hours to get there!).

I dont think its a transmission problem, having alot of experience of transmission problems i now know the procedure lol. In all my instances i always had the TM Fail check come up first followed by the Engine Check light, but in your case its straight to the engine light, so have others have suggested probably and hopefully something very simple.

I've got a proecu cable and could possibly help scan for diag codes. Is it under any kind of warranty?

Much appreciated Tin. Now I know the dealer has the necessary equipment I'll take it there this time. I was worried I faced another long journey to get it sorted at Litchfield or somewhere.

Will report back on Monday, unless it's something catastrophic in which case I'll post in the 'for sale' area ;)
