PLEASE HELP

ok so i bought my r33 gtr 2 days ago of a nice chap on here called northern monkey car drove fine on test drive and fine for the last 2 days, then all of a sudden whilst driving the car started to pump out white ish grey smoke please can someone help me diagnose it

my thoughts where

1.headgasket
2.turbo oil seal

could one of the knowledgeable people on here PLEASE HELP ME

oh and i have read all the other posts through the search facility,(before some smart sod says do a search but its no good reading what i dont understand) and was hoping their was a gtroc member who lives near by to come have a look for me

1. When does the smoke occur? (all the time, under boost etc)
2. Does it do it from cold and stop when warm or vice versa?
3. Have you checked oil and water levels (check for mixing/low levels)
4. Has the temp needle been in the red zone?
5. Does it struggle or misfire?

It would help if you told us whereabouts you are, I'm sure someone local to you might be able to come and have a lookover the basics.

no diesel

didnt do anything different to yesterday shell v power warmed her up wasnt even on boost when i noticed it start to smoke pulled straight over and cried lol

thanks for your quick responce

1.smoke started whilst driving normally not driving hard
2.car was warm at the time of smoking, and i started it again about 20mins later and still smoking but not as bad (but i didnt want to run it to long and damage it more)
3.water level fine, oil was fine yesterday but now low, no sign of water in oil or oil in the water
4.water temp oil temp were both fine
5.only had the car 2 days and it had run fine till this afternoon

and im in burnley lancs

Had a ring around and explained situation. Out of the 5ltrs of oil, how much is left that you put in?

They reckon it could be one of the following:

Too much oil on the oil change yesterday
Blown oil seal - Check around the turbos for any signs of oil coming out

Is there a stupendous amount of smoke even on tick over?
What is the oil pressure like on tick over when cold?

I really really hope its something simple, im absolutely gutted.

left the car outside my dads house for now (was only round the corner when it happened) but i will check the oil pressure from cold in the morning

and i will be calling rb in the morning.

If it is the turbo oil seal does that mean i have to change both turbos? sorry if its a stupid question im new to turbo'd cars

Not sure, Rod or steve at RB will know. I hope its nothing that serious mate. Honestly feel absolutely gutted.

Id take them both of and have a look in either case if it was still here. Id also be taking all the spark plugs out to see if I can see any residue etc..

not that i noticed but i stopped the car as soon as it started. I have only just got the car so im not even used to the sounds its meant to make let alone ones its not meant to make

well, the one way to tell if it's a piston or a turbo is to give it a drive. If it has lost significant power and seems to be missing a cylinder, it's a piston. If you're just not making boost, it's a turbo.

Or the safe way to do it is to flatbed the car into a garage and do a compression and leakdown test. That'll tell you straightaway the condition of all six of your pistons. If they check out, start looking at the turbos.

And follow the cardinal rule of Skyline ownership - if something breaks, replace it with an upgraded part. Depending on your luck, it'll only be a matter of time before you've got a monster of a car!!

dont want to drive it , knowing my luck i'll do more damage to it. borrowed a compression tester of a mate going to check it in the morning what sort of figures should i get back??

if all else fails i'll just buy a low millage R34 engine for her, she will live again

ok so i am going to have a look at the gtr today, other than taking off the twin turbo pipe and checking for oil what else should i check myself before i start paying silly money at a garage, really want it sorted only had the car 3 days and i need it back on the road asap

Take the spark plugs out and do a comp test.
Also how much of the 5ltrs is left from the oil change?
Id also be tempted (although check with RB) to put on tick over for for 5-10 mins and check temps and oil pressure.
If its a turbo gone then you shouldnt do any damage as it would have already spat its wheel down the exhaust
If its a piston you should see this when checking the spakies and compression.
The turbo elbow pipe wont tell you too too much as this is the air intake and is sealed from the exhaust side Its a case of just looking where it has been sat and looking up from the downpipes for signs of oil leakage.

I wish you was just around the corner, I would have come and helped where I can.
