I knocked mine out with a modded punch and a big club hammer. I think its shock you need to get them started.

I phoned Rod at RB motorsport and he told me that it is neccecary to heat up the head to 140 deg c first ,otherwise they don't go out

I worked a while at an engine requild shop, ( dont know the exact translation)
And we had a kind of impact hammer on air with different Tools to knock guides out. ( always cold ) and it always sucseeded. It is indeed the shock that's needed.

The press can be used to install the new guides.. its often more acurate than a hammer..

Good luck
