Would it be possible to have an HKS VCAM TYPE A on the intake side with say, a 280 Degree Cam on the exhaust side?RB26 from R34.What's the biggest exhaust cam you would be able to put on the exhaust side with the VCAM installed on the intake side?
My 0.02c... Since V-Cam affects the intake cam only, you can generally use an exhaust cam to your liking. However, the greater the difference between the duration of the in and ex cams (assuming ex > in), the more peaky your power/torque curve. You can certainly use a higher duration ex cam (e.g. 280+) but the ability of the V-Cam to pull back the power/torque curve that would typically result would be further limited. That amy or many not be an issue depending on what state of tune you are after (e.g. big power or low down torque).
FWIW, I run V Cam Pro Step 3 (272 intake) with 272 exhaust. But take maat j's advice and ask Mark from Abbey to chime in on his experiences with the different cam combinations.
