Thanks

not driven both but from observations made/heard..

the main difference is the ride of the car, V-spec being for some people intollerably harsh. the car is also a tad lower.

I changed the springs in mine for even harder ones but a lot of people with V-specs put regular GTR springs on them.

The A-LSD would probably be noticed by somone who has driven both cars but for my limited ability and experience I don't notice that it is there. but then I suppose that is the idea...

The Skyline is the first RWD (mainly) car I have owned so I am not the best person to answer that.

A personal observation between my car and some non vspecs I have been in is that the torque splitter seems very sensitive in my car. with traction being directed to the fronts quite a lot, but that is just observing in other cars from the passenger seat. It may be something to do with the inept way I drive my car !!

hope this helps.

It was the A-LSD that I was thinking of that would effect the handling.I drove a Vspec at the weekend and was very impressed with the way it handled.

If you can find a V-spec then buy one, otherwise you will always question yourself with the 'What if' question.

I have driven both, the V-spec does have a slightly harsher ride but smoothens out with speed. It's just the spring rate which is different I believe between the two, shocks remain the same.

I've had my springs replaced with TEIN items, TEIN have three different spring rates - soft-med-hard, the mediums are the recommended ones. The ride has improved immensely, the car a little lower and still maintains the flat conering profile.

Colonel, a good tip for the springs is just to fit some clamps on them to lower the car, and it doesnt cost much.
And greatly improves the handling.

Clamps

Have anyone got any more info on the spring clamps:

Is using them no different to buying lowering springs?
How much lower can you get the car by?
Are they reliable/strong enough for the skyline?
How much would they cost?
Where can you get them from?

Has anyone actually used clamps on their skyline?

Ta muchly

Vspec only way to go Col.

the reactions of the LSD are FAR quicker on a vspec and much less likely to lose the back end on the V specs. It switches from SIDE to SIDE as well as back to front (as on the non Vs)
Also the Vs have uprated suspension, stornger wishbones and arms on the suspension.
I have driven both (though not for too long) and the Vspec generates more grip and traction.
Just my 2c worth.
Plus they have a better markey value under re sell as well (the Vs were a lot more when sold new)

Nothing better than telling a bummer driver he's been done by a datsun.

Forget the spring clamps. Just nick the cart springs out the back of Shaolin's Cortina and get some lowering blocks. Far superior

All this is too much work

Get three fat people in your car.

Works wonders for the ride height and only costs 6x Big Mac Meals.

Bargain and no mistake ;)
