Well I've been promising the Father inlaw a blat in the GTR since I picked her up. So this morning I stuck to my word and popped up to WILIMINGTON to collect him. It was only meant to be a run around the local area with a bit of a breakfast stop over near Brands Hatch. So much for that plan lol.

Yeah we went straight for brekkie as I was starving. On that note the Cafe opposite Brands is great. It was full of bikers and we were the only car there lol. I thought we might get a bit of banter but far from it. The fellas there (Of all ages) loved her :)

So now I'm stuffed, I've got a full tank of Super and the sun has started to come out. I think you all know where this is going lol.

Normally I like to go for a 'Run' in the motor very early in the morning with my mates (Empty roads) but I just couldn't resist. To cut a long story short we ended up down in RYE having taken one of my fav routes through HEADCORN, TENTTERDEN and APPLEDORE. Fantastic roads down there especially leading into RYE. It was my first time on this section in the GTR so it was a good chance to get a feel for her before I do a dawn run with the boys :chuckle: [email protected]*K ME she was fantastic. Normally I enjoy blatting down a fav section doing a bit of heel n toe and linking the twisties up (Great vision the whole way so safe to cut the corners). I was a bit worried I might not get the same enjoyment. Boy was I wrong. Having both hands on the wheel and being able to flick down deep into a corner just made for fantastic progress. Then there was the amount of slip R mode lets you have :smokin: I know it's not big or clever but when it's clear and safe to do so it makes for Great fun :bowdown1: Not so sure the rear tyres agree lol.

Anyway, after a quick pit stop we ran back for lunch with the family. Our short trip around local roads turned into a 3.5 hour hoon and a full tank of fuel.

Sorry if I keep going on about these cars as I know you all know what I'm on about. But I'm just soooooo bloody smitten. She's never going to be sold and hopefully I can get modding soon. Although she's awesome in standard tune ; )

Here's a couple of pic's from the morning

Anyone else have a spontaneous run out today?

Up the back roads in Scotland to Anstruther. Too many Sunday drivers but fun on the return when it was a bit quieter - great day for it! Down towards Newcastle next week for some mods. Can't wait to feel the difference.

sounds like you had a fantastic day, weather was perfect for a good run out in the car, I went for a drive with a few biker friends up into the Brecon mountains, GTR comes to life on the twisties, and certainly gives the bikes a run for their money

Nigel, heel n toe purely for manual mate with clutch. When u get it right it feels great. I love the trans in the gtr but wasn't sure it would be as much fun on my fav section. But like I said I was wrong as it was f'ing awesome lol.

To the boys around Kent, there's a few of us around here. I'm tucked up for a couple of weeks but once sorted I'll arrange an early meet up if u want. I already do a lot of runs with the Kent boys over on ph. Although much of that is now via email/phone only to keep it off public forums ; ) nothing better than meeting up around 6am doing a 120 mile hoon and finishing off with a big brekkie!!

Gotta love the early morning Sunday blast!

We went a couple of weeks ago from Newcastle and ended up in Scotland and managed to use a full tank as well. Epic fun and to be honest probably the first time i've really used her in anger as i find it's just too busy on normal days on normal roads to make full use of all the ponies!

Only downside was we couldn't find a good cafe for breakfast!

Boys, you need to do a Track day then you can explore the other 80% of the car that you CANNOT use on the roads !!!

Very true Steve. My only concerns with track days are having to get a quiet exhaust and having to shell out for tyres more often coz at £1500 + a set it ain't cheap! I did enjoy the silverstone GT academy day last year though

My tyres have done 4000 miles and four track days (with my limited skill on track) and still have tread on them. I think the key to tyre life is to pit when you start to feel them getting greasy. This is usually somewhere around 5-6 hot laps.

Yep, not cheap, but the only way you can really explore the full potential of the GTR and smoke all the rivals !!!

Quick breakdown

Track day cost £200+
Insurance £10% of value of car
Tyres £1500
Brake Pads £1200 (Alcon BBK)
Fuel - more than all the above !!!!

Yeah mate i really should get on track, especially as they run afternoon sessions at Brands throughout the summer and it's only 10 mins away.

Like what has already been said though mate, it's the cost afterwards that puts me off. I think I'd rather smash an old track hack around and not worry about it. A mate and I were looking to go half's at the end of last year and if my money situation improves soon that's what I will probably be doing. We will get something around the £1k mark, strip it and thrash the [email protected]*t out of it lol. £500 each some prep work and job done. He's a trader as well so car will have insurance to get to the track. Other thing we looked into doing, but cost starts to spiral, was drifting. You can pick up an S13/14 for nothing now and they are great fun. In all honesty that would be far more up my street than track driving. Drifting is just such a buzz and i would love to master the art. Don't worry i don't try in the GTR. Although that said i have been quite surprised at how playful she can be when provoked :chuckle:

I'm sure I will try the GTR as I would like to know what it is like but I think I'll save my baby for the regular runs I do :smokin:
