Recently, I had this annoying clicking noise in my MY11 coming from left front wheel. Nissan Middlehurst cleaned the hub and wheel and the noise was gone for few days. Now it appeared again but on the right side, much louder and even when driving straight. I know its normal for rust and brake pad build up between hub and disc. I would like to clean it myself this time. Can you recommend any torque wrenches and confirm that 147Nm is correct value?

^ why, what? do you know of or have you had a bad experience with this tool? Just for this wheel nut use..

Oh sorry - some context might have helped :)

Yes I bought one for a friend (birthday) and when using it he mentioned that the torque of a few bolts he was removing were seemingly loose compared to the expected torque setting (set it to tightening up pre-loosening).
In short - took it back and compared to mine (have a torque tester) and sure enough it was high by almost 15n.
Long story short - was replaced with the same and that was out by 4n

So... We agreed that for very obvious reasons - by cheap, by twice :)

In the end I bought him a pro wrench from Halfords and split the cost. Admit it was a jump from £35 to about £80 but it was well worth it, and came with a 3 year warranty to boot :p

do not waste your money on cheap torque wrenches silverline, sealey etc they are rubbish ive tried them, I had a 3/4 sealey and had been overtightening big ends, mains etc without realiseing :eek: no harm done luckily but I will never buy a cheap one again

snap on or britool ftw, I have an 1" drive snap on that runs upto 800 lbft its a few years old now and its still bang on they are accurate, good quality that lasts.

Thanks for the info :thumbsup: I'll use it accordingly now (primarily as a persuader for road rage incidents lol)

Teng user here too, they are certified and tested, and well priced, you are not paying for the snap on premium, but it works just as well and their accuracy is more than acceptable.

If you use it a lot, get them recertified every year, shouldnt cost much, and its a good investment for a tool that will keep your wheels from deciding to take a holiday in the middle of a corner.

I use the Teng and it is good, but I prefer the Norbar ones, British made and they last a long time, and are easy to calibrate :) There is one in the family that is older than me, and it is still working ok.
