Hi guys and a big newbie wave to you all :wavey:

I am about to venture into the world of the GTR and wondered if some of you could guide me with where I should buy my GTR from.

I live in Warwickshire, but distance is not really an issue to me.

I am looking to buy new from a dealer (no finance needed) and want to get the best service possible.

Q1. What are your experiances with Westway in Oxford compared to say Middlehurst in St Helens?

Q2. Is there any other dealer I should consider?

Q3. Is it prefered to buy from a dealer and then get the car serviced for it's life at the same dealer. Would this make the car more valuable when I come to sell it?

Thanks in advance

Topboy

Answer on a postcard...

1. I've only ever used Middlehursts, and I love them. They had my car on the back of a flatbed lorry 45 mins after having the driver's window smashed. I am local to them but still, fantastic service. They've fitted some mods for me, all without a moan or a whimper.

2. Other's may chime in...

3. It would make naff all difference to resale, more importantly it's about having trust in your service guys and building rapport.

There have been mostly good things, and a only a few bad things, said about most HPC's.

Would it be fair to say that most postive comments have been made about Marshall, Middlehurst, JFE and Westway?; probably. The first 2 have delivered by far and away the most UK cars.

Middlehurst has to be the spiritual home..... and is seen as a centre of excellence. They maintain the Race Academy fleet so there is a good Nissan corporate relationship I suspect.

Also there are some late starters on the HPC scene e.g. Glyn Hopkin, on which there has not been a lot of feedback.

Whether you plan to modify the car, or not, might influence your choice; some dealers are a bit funny about fitting/supplying modified parts. Trust me, you are going to want a replacement y-pipe.:D

There is a thread on dealers elsewhere, I think in the garages forum.

I've used 3 HPCs so far and have no complaints about any of them.

Thanks for all the replys

Another question.

Doesn't the Y-Pipe void the standard Nissan Warranty.

If Nissan found out about it if you tryed to make a claim wouldnt they void the claim?

Sorry for swearing...and after using the interwebby search thingymebob I have the answer I wanted about "W"

So I guess any HPC will do so long as the experiance at so said HPC has been on the posative side with forum members.

Guess it makes sense to go with the closest to me distance wise then?

So far Marshalls have been excellent.

The sales process was refreshingly pleasant, far superior to the BMW dealer in the same area, talk about badge snobbery !

Phil the GTR specialist is top notch as are all the guys actually, what impressed me was that Phil was on holiday when I bought mine (4 weeks old with 1200 miles, so no waiting, lucky sod I know......lol) but the other sales guys were excellent in his absence. All very approachable and Dave the DP is a top bloke.

One very minor problem, a door rattle (not the shield one) was fixed quickly a couple of weeks after delivery and Wayne the specialist technician seems to know his way around the car very well.

For the sake of a couple hours travelling i'd seek out a dealer like Marshalls or Middlehurst who have established a good reputation, it's a lot of money you're spending. Good luck !

Thanks for the input.

I think im going to go with Westway Oxford as they seem to have a good rep on here and Leon has been very good so far.

I carried out considerable research before ordering my R35. For me Middlehurst stood out in every way as the HPC of choice - and they will fit your Y-Pipe.

What's your exp of concierge? There's been a some damage issues posted, in particular to wheels, also interior. I have a black/gunmetal coming from Middlehurst & I'm over the hill far far away!:nervous:

I've never used the concierge service so I cannot comment.

Middlehursts just use their own lorry and driver, and they've only used the flatbed once, as the car was full of glass and undriveable.

All the other times their driver pops to my work in a Micra/Qashqai, and drives mine back to MH.

There have been some horror stories on here from folks who've had alloys wrecked by the pick up guys sent by the concierge so for me, I wouldnt risk it.

I've used Middlehurst for nearly 10 years and bought 5 cars from them.

They have a stable team and focus on looking after their customers. On the rare occasion there's been a problem they sorted it. Eg - the alloys on my 350Z GT4 corroded and they got Nissan to replace all 4 rather than repaint.

Thought it was a bit odd that Phil did not reply to my e-mail! Just called today and was advised that he is no longer there. I can't even pop in to meet the new guy as well, as I am based in London now!

Anyone know the guy that has replaced Phil - as asked above by imattersuk, someone promoted or someone "new"?
