Certainly one of the most important aspects while tuning a car - wheels and tires . . . you can ruin a tuning project by fitting wrong wheels and tires . . . would really be interested to drive thoses c.wheels on a track, to feel the diffrences . .

did u guys read the pro's of getting carbon weels? sounds attractive doesnt it?

1. Improved acceleration
2. Improved braking, reduced stopping distance
3. Lighter, sharper steering
4. Allows for softer damper settings giving more tire contact & therefore
better grip.
5. Tire temperatures are more stable
6. Improved wheel & tire balancing

The fact that F1 cars dont use carbon wheels must say something about their suitability for wheels!

F1 wheels are very light about 2kgs and are made from Magnesium.

There have been lots of tests with carbon wheels, the problem has always been that they break apart easily. The whole point of carbon is that it's very strong in one direction, but tends to be structurally weak in the other.

F1 teams tested them and they just fragmented under the stress.

Not strictly true, depending on the weave pattern, and how many layers used, you can get good strength in all directions.

For wheel rims, you have to go a long way to beat Magnesium.

Magnesium you say? Must have a pretty good radiator to stop it reacting under the heat produced by the engine hehe.
Don't be daft, they have been using magnesium alloys in engine blocks since the 60s.

Dymag have made these for a while now, seriously nice and so light, picked a 20" rim up and couldn't believe it :bowdown1:

Not cheap though at £1100+VAT....each!

More info here: http://www.dymag.com/news.html

no offence, but i wish they'd come up with a differnet design.

i'm sure everyone here wouldnt mind TE37/LMGT4 in full carbon :p
