Picked up a humdinger in the centre of the screen and wondered if anyone here is insured with CCI and had a chip repaired?
Their claim limit for screen replacement is quite low (either £500 or £1000, but not enough to cover a new GT-R screen) so keen to get this repaired before it cracks.

Had to replace 2 screens (thankfully under Admiral) already... :nervous:

I'd rather let CCI pay for a professional, guaranteed repair. Just need to find out which cos they authorise. It should be completely free (according to the Autoglass ads!)

I had a chip in the screen and got Autoglass to repair it. They guarantee that if it spreads then they will replace the screen free of charge.

Guess what?

The repair miraculously spread and they replaced the entire GTR screen FOC!

That was kinda the guarantee I was looking for! I just need to phone CCI on Tuesday and check that Autoglass is an approved repairer for them.

They were a rip-off for a new screen though. Charged Admiral £1600 and broke the A-pillar trim that was another £900! Second screen was from another company and it was "only" £1100 or so.

David, I the second company you tried was £1100 and CCI cover you to £1000, isn't it worth the £100 outlay?

£1000 is a bit poor from CCI. I thought their cover was generally better.

What are you saying? I don't get to choose which company the insurance company uses and anyway, it's repairable, it's just a chip (for now).

CCI's cover is better in other areas, e.g. modifications and track days.

Quick update. Called Aviva claims line (which is who CCI are insured with) and it patches you straight through to... yep, you guessed it, Autoglass!

Booked in for mobile repair tomorrow, free of charge. And yes, the claim limit for windscreen replacement with CCI is only £1000, so worth checking your screen for chips and getting them repaired.

Will have to take this into consideration on my renewal, Ive now got a cracked windscreen, which means ill have to pay in the region of £400, which even with mods etc... would make other insurance firms cheaper as I would only have had to pay £75 excess, :chairshot

Yep, that's downside of CCI. Have you shopped around to find the cheapest source for the screen? Autoglass charged Admiral £1800 for my first replacement screen! As I said above, National Windscreens (I think) only charged £1100, so worth checking.

I had the same issue a chip that turned into a crack. When I called the CCI claims line it put me through to Autoglass. I booked it in for the next day expecting only to pay the £75 excess. I got a call first thing the next day from Autoglass and was told that the replacement total would be about £1500 leaving an additional £500 to pay.

I called Aviva and spoke to a claims handler by choosing different phone options, indicated that I could get the job done cheaper from Middlehurst at £922 (thanks to the info on here). They said fine, get the job done, pay for it and send them a copy of the invoice with the claim info. etc. I did so and my cheque was in the post within a couple of weeks, the car was looked after by my preferred specialist and I was only out of pocket by £75.

Picked up a chip on my windscreen last weekend. I've never had a repair before, Autoglass will be tending to it this Friday, how good are repairs these days? My chip is less than 10mm. Anything I should be looking out for as they do the repair?

Cheers
