Okay, so after doing some research, I've come to the conclusion that the HICAS still works as well as the speedometer if you cut wire #53. The questions I have is about the power steering. It is supposed to be speed sensitive. The higher the speed, the stiffer the steering. Is this affected if you cut that wire? Is all power steering equal afterwards?

This has been covered before, Do a bit of a search and you will find lots of info on this.

Personally I dont see what the big deal is, Just cut it and see what happens, Make sure you leave enough wire so you can re-connect it if your not happy. Its not permanent.

I guess I need to dig harder. That was the only question I didn't seem to find. Maybe I'm just blind. I'll look again.

You can allways rejoin wires :) Its not the end of the world. A good solder joint would soon have it back right if you change your mind.

Personally, I'd rather have all the answers up front and not do any experimenting.
