Hi guys, what do you think about this bulbs on ebay? The price seem to be good, they are 100W and white light.
Are they ok for a stock xenon headlight lamps? What do you recommend?
Is there some particular brand that does not turn yellow lens? I read somewhere that some bulbs are suitable for plastic lenses as the R34. Do you know anything?

Hi mate, thanks for the reply.
they don't speak of halogen lamps, but in fact might be misleading advertising ... :puke:
What kind of lamps you would install then and what is the best temperature of light to see better at night??

I'm unsure which socket it is. Probably d2s.
4300 is standard white. I'd go for either 5000 or 6000.
They have a hint of blue without looking like something from the fast and the furious.

H1 = Halogen, You can also tell by how they look, These bulbs have a standard element of a Halogen bulb. I just had a look and I couldn't find a single Xenon bulb that would fit in place of a H1, they are all just normal Halogens painted blue... False advertising indeed.

But even Xenon lights don't use Xenon for the real lighting, I think they would be more accurately be called Sodium lamps.

Xenon normally equals HID btw, Which requires Self leveling, From what I can tell if you where to put a genuine Xenon bulb in your headlamp it would possibly fail the MOT and be illegal.

Well

Most osram low voltage halogen lamps are actually Xenon
Osram call them "Xenon Look", There is no mention in the technical data that those bulbs use the gas though.

COOL BLUE INTENSE

Whereas this one actually is a Xenon Gas Discharge bulb, They look quite different inside the glass part...

XENARC SILVERSTAR

In short, it seems you have "Halogen Xenon Look" or HID... I cant find any examples of a traditional style automotive bulb that actually uses Xenon gas.

Damn cool video though :)

Yes, Projector bulbs probably can be proper Xenon ones, Osram do them for cinema projectors and Hospital operating theaters so why not, It seems to be the Automotive ones that are most misleading as they are using the word Xenon on normal bulbs that are just tinted blue.

I too, was under the impression the adverts where accurate, until I looked further into it. You learn something new everyday :)

I think its 55/60 for most dual filament headlamps. So I guess 60 is probably the upper limit.

I know the 100W bulbs are definitely not road legal in the UK.

I didn't notice these where 100W, They will damage your headlamps and wires without modification, I know this because I have seen it happen.

Hi mates, THX to replay!!

Ok, so in summary, 55/60w is the limit in order not to damage the headlights and not turn yellow... and 6000 k seem the best light to run through the streets in complete legality?

Since I just ordered the xenon headlamps (halogen headlamps I have currently), I have no idea what brand and type of lamp is installed and what kind of temperature of light have oem lamps...

I think anyway a good set of HID lights cost not less than 35/40 € (about 30/35 GBP)...

The thing you mention about yellowing, Not sure how this applies to the Skyline, But on the Mondeo it was caused by the wrong bulb type not the wattage, The bulbs where different to standard car bulbs but had the same fitting?!? and so people would put them in and yellow the lenses. I wonder if the R34 is also fussy about the bulb type in this fashion ? Might be worth making sure you get the right ones.

Afteral £bulb < £headlamp. :)

A 100 watt light bulb will overheat in a standard headlamp unit.
Xenon bulbs require much less current. Headlamps should be measured in lumins.
