Just bought H1 kit for my 92 R32 projecter headlights as this is the bulb fitted. But on removal the H1 bulb sits in an adapter which fits into headlight and I don't see how to get the HID kit to fit this other than cutting it up and gluine it in place..
Did they fit this adapter to change from early H3 to later H1 bulbs? Should I have bought an H3 HID kit?

would it make any difference if i fit PIAA bulbs on my projector lamps? i took the h1 off of my projector lamp and it seems to be a blueish bulb already but still dip lights look yellow and not blue or white.

Better bulbs will work better. Incandescants will always look a bit yellow I'm afraid.

Agreed!

Front Indicator Bulbs - T10/501 for the little one and BA9
Front Sidelight Bulb - 501/T10
Front HID Projector Bulb (dipped beam) - H1
Front mainbeam bulb - H3 - you don't want to HID this one but you might want to get a 'xenon' bulb to match the colour of the HIDs/LEDs

Interior Main Dashboard Bulbs(s) - 501
Three Gauge Bulbs - 286
Heater backlight Bulb(s) - T3
Interior Map Reading Bulb(s) - ???

Rear Lights - BA9S - halfords have it as a 380 or 382 (double filament bulb)
Rear Indicator - see above either 380 or 382 (single filament)
Reverse Lights - ???

isnt a 382 a BA15S (or 1156) bulb...?

Illumiation L : T10/501 (x5) - these are the ones in the 5 large brown holders
Illumnation S : T5/286 (x2) - these are the ones in the 2 small blue holders

Warning Lights
Best to avoid changing these to LED's
1. Because a blue/or other tinted LED can make it hard to see when a warning light comes on because of the colored cells
2. Some of the lights i.e Fuel/HICAS etc can give a false reading because of the low current required to run an LED

Turn Signals : T10/501 (x2) (these are fine to be LED)

HICAS : T5/286

Bumpo,

Great Thread, ordering some bulbs today. Anyone know if the interior light by the RVM is T10/501?

Oh and the other was R32 GTR N1 headlamp fog light bulbs, H3c? I can't seem to find them anywhere other than the USA.

I'd like to know the above too.

Also regarding headlight bulb upgrades - I've tried a few combinations over the years to try and improve the awful headlight output.
In normal R32 projector lamp units I've tried:

uprated bulbs which didn't help a lot.

HIDs in the dip beams - great fun down a country lane when you flip from your main beam to your HID dip beam and theres no light at all untill the HIDs warm up ! Main beam still rubbish.

'N1' or non-projector R32 lights - 1kg lighter per unit than the projector units - better light output than the projectors. Still not great.
Philips Visionplus +50% bulbs in above - better whiter light but still not good enough.

Last weekend I made a new loom in 30a wire with fused relays to bypass the standard wiring and provide direct power from the battery to the lights - this is what you need to do if you want to see at night in a 32. It makes a huge difference. There are even two spaces in the fuse box ready for the relays to sit.
