Looking for new clutch as taking the car up to about 550-600 via a single turbo conversion. Looking at mainly os giken ones i have heard nothing but good reports.

Problem.

ive been looking on greenline as thats where i get most me stuff and they have about 3 different options:

OS Giken TS2B LOSR32C001
Twin Plate push type clutch. Steel press cover. 204mm. 9,800N/m (1,000kgf/m). Models after 93/2 require fitting kit.

OS Giken TS2BD LOSR32C002
Twin Plate push type clutch. Steel press cover. Damper type. 204mm. 9,800N/m (1,000kgf/m). Models after 93/2 require fitting kit

OS Giken TS2CD LOSR32C003
Twin Plate push type clutch. Steel press cover. Damper type. 215mm. 9,800N/m (1,000kgf/m). Models after 93/2 require fitting kit.

done a few searchs on forum found a lot of info on them but not a lot i understand.

which ones are most commonly used and if anybody is using them with the same kind of power, which one do you have.

thanks

The OS Giken info is plainly a misprint, clutches are rated in their torque handling capacity, and 9800 Newton metres is something a ships engine could be proud of, it's 7228 lbs feet of torque, clearly ridiculous. Snag is this misinformation seems to have been disseminated across every site advertising their clutches.

I have an OS Giken clutch in my Skyline, it's well made, albeit far heavier than it need be, so i am milling windows in their flywheel to get some inertia out of it.

I think the nubmers are the force of the spring pushing the plate. The Nismo clutchs are done in the same way.

One without dampers is more reliable for high ammounts of torque, less friend to drive.
from what I could work out from what ppl said.

DoH, One assume the 215mm plated one can take more power than the smaller one, dunno how much thou?

I went for a Nismo one in my car as it was slightly cheeper that the HKS. Both HKS & Nismo were highly rated as being very friendly to drive with almost like std clutch.

I also got a bigger clutch cylinder which lightens the pedal force by 14% so should make it even more friendly.

If you drive it on the road a lot and dont want to be rebuilding your gearbox  Get the one with the damper springs mate.
I have an OS Ginken twin plate with these and its firm but not snatchy and, I feel a lot kinder to the transmission , drive-shafts than I am
sometimes
Speak to Rod Bell!
They are so good he's got loads of em. :D :D
Cokey

Same clutch I chose mate - I'm getting it from Rod Bell. Cant be bothered to go through the hassle from Greenline or Nengun, and certainly wouldn't buy one second hand (no offence to anyone who has ;) )

Its the middle one you want, with the dampers. Kinder to your gearbox :)

ÂŁ1200 though from OSGUK (Rod Bell) - but that's still ÂŁ200 cheaper than the HKS one  :D

i havent bought anything yet, one thing you have take into consideration is duty and taxes and the fact their prices dont include delivery, but on the subject of clutches the one pikey is getting is ÂŁ900 from greenline!! on other things, im looking for single turbo manifolds at them moment and have been recommended the hks one, for a setup kit which includes manifold, wastegate, gaskets, etc it cost ÂŁ950 from greenline, ive been quoted ÂŁ1500 over here!

theres good and bad points!

thanks for the web addresses mate. Tax is a bugger and you can never be too sure. I just bought a watch from America which saved me over a Grand compared to here and I think I have got away with paying the tax which is nice!

Can make the difference between getting a a bargain and it only just being worth your while I suppose.

So far all i have done is email jason my proposed order, he emailed me back a quote which i have changed today and am waiting a reply (hes normally pretty quick) like ahapartridge said jason recons you can get away with most stuff but im bringing a clutch, manifold, cams, etc. so i might struggle.

i have never had a problem with paypal, i use it when i buy stuff from ebay, and with buying it from a reputable company you shouldnt have a problem.

my research has found that greenline is cheaper than nengun!

Yeah they are slightly cheaper on most stuff.

Clutches cost a lot to deliver though, which eats into the apparent price difference between here and Japan
